Correction, Feb. 19, 2026 2:33 pm: A previous version of this story incorrectly stated that an appeals court said Dr. Mary Bowden could apply for privileges to treat a patient at Texas Health Huguley hospital. A district court required the hospital to grant privileges, but the hospital successfully appealed that decision. The previous version also failed to specify that when Bowden told the hospital she would send a nurse to treat the patient, she was replying to its request that she apply for privileges.
