Houston Mayor Annise Parker stopped by Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report on Wednesday night.

She was not there, as host Stephen Colbert joked, to pick up basketball star Jeremy Lin, who was recently acquired by the Houston Rockets after a headline-grabbing season with the New York Knicks. Instead, the discussion focused on the city of Houston.

Colbert was particularly interested in how a city in Texas could possibly have elected a mayor like Parker, who is openly gay. Parker was particularly interested in discussing her city’s economy and growing job market.
