Perry Alagappan, 18, of Houston, has invented an award-winning filtering device, built from graphene nanotubes that removes 99 percent of heavy metals from water. The new device, which helps decontaminate e-waste produced by discarded consumer electronics, won the Stockholm Junior Water Prize at this year’s World Water Week. (The Guardian)
