The day after Bruce Rainer, governor of Illinois, used his veto power to effectively remove $215 million from Chicago Public Schools’ operating budget, the major urban school district released a supplemental budget for a slate of proposed projects that raises capital spending for the fiscal year to $938 million. The newly released capital spending budget is in addition to $338 million in capital projects announced in August. (Chicago Tribune)
