Scientists produce a plan for conservation in the Amazon
Scientists from the Wildlife Conservation Society and the Nature Conservancy, along with partners in Brazil and Peru, have produced a new geographic information system for the Amazon River basin in order to guide development and conservation in the region. The new system uses spatial analysis tools and new hydrological and river basin classifications to assess the effects of deforestation and infrastructure projects such as highways and dams.
