Scientists find that soil can increase global warming
Scientists have documented yet another potential accelerator of climate change – the earth’s soil, which they say can release a massive repository of carbon as global warming increases. The culprits, according to the massive study published in the journal Nature, are the microorganisms living in the soil that respond to warming by increasing their rate of respiration, thus releasing more carbon dioxide or methane. The study can be found here. (Washington Post)
