Environmentalists raise issues on desalination projects
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality is reviewing issues raised by environmental groups on proposed rules to streamline the authorization process for desalination facilities that would withdraw and discharge water along the Gulf of Mexico. The groups say that the rules, which are being revised in response to their concerns, do not adequately protect the fish and wildlife that rely on the state's bays and estuaries.
