An 11-year legal struggle between the state of Connecticut and a coalition of educators and advocates has culminated in a groundbreaking, 90-page ruling by Superior Court Judge Thomas Moukawsher. Declaring the state’s education system essentially broken, Moukawsher has tasked lawmakers with overhauling its public education funding formula, graduation standards, teacher and administrator evaluations, and special education standards. Reaction to the ruling has been largely positive, save within the state capitol. (Hartford Courant)
