NOAA has launched a new supercomputing tool that that the federal agency is touting as a major improvement in flood forecasting, with a capacity for simulating how water moves through the country's rivers and streams by using data from U.S. Geological Survey gauges around the country. The National Water Model will generate hourly forecasts for the nation's entire river network. (Water Online)
