The scheduled purchase of a large ranch in Hudspeth County by El Paso Water Utilities has stirred concerns about the effects on the surrounding farming community of long-term plans by the utility to export more water from their area. The price for the Chambers Lynch Ranch, which covers 26,470 acres, was cited at $50 million, which was to come from a loan from the State Water Implementation Fund. (El Paso Inc.)
