Researchers Find Freshwater Reserves in California
Researchers from Stanford University have discovered what they say is a huge, deep underground source of freshwater lying below the surface of California's Central Valley. The freshwater, which the researchers say lies at depths between 1,000 and 10,000 feet below the surface, may amount to 2,700 billion tons, though other scientists say at those depths the water may be salty or difficult to retrieve.
