The legendary glass-bottom boats of Aquarena Springs, which have plied the waters of the Central Texas landmark since 1946, are returning to Spring Lake, one by one, after being restored and strengthened. The vessel known as Boat 1953 arrived on May 20, the first of five renovated boats for which wooden-framed hulls have been replaced with fiberglass composite hulls under the aegis of the Meadows Center for Water and the Environment of Texas State University.
