Mississippi Legislators Attempt to Ensure Parents Get Graded

The Mississippi House has passed a bill that requires teachers in low-performing school districts to offer a grade describing the parental involvement of each student’s family. Ratings would be limited to “unsatisfactory,” “needs improvement,” or “satisfactory.” But a last-minute amendment to the bill, penned by a fellow House member, has the bill author crying foul.
