Virginia Governor Pushes for Reinvestment in Public Education
Like so many other states, Virginia cut its funding for public education during the economic recession of the past decade. But, with their economy on the mend and state coffers expanding, Virginia’s Gov. Terry McAuliffe says he wants to reinvest new money where it will see the greatest return. McAuliffe, in advance of the release of a full budget proposal, has recommended a $1 billion infusion into K-12 and higher education throughout the Commonwealth. (The Washington Post)
