Poverty May Increase Risk of Neurological Impairment for Children
Growing up in a poor household puts children at greater risk of neurological impairment than was previously known, according to a new study by the National Institutes of Health. Beyond the already-documented impact on cognitive and emotional development, poverty may increase the odds of learning difficulties, attention deficit disorders, and psychological illnesses such as anxiety disorders and schizophrenia.
