Opponents Say Trans-Texas Pipeline a Threat to Water Supply

Opponents of the proposed Trans-Texas Pipeline in West Texas are citing the pipeline's projected consumption of 500 million gallons of water in an arid area as a threat to the region's already meager water resources. They say that the construction phase of the pipeline would impact between 10 percent to 30 percent of the capacity of the Igneous Aquifer, which provides most of the water for west and central Brewster County and the city of Alpine.
