University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center professor Helen Hobbs on Sunday was named one of the winners of the $3 million Breakthrough Prize, the richest award handed out in the life sciences. She won for her work on identifying genetic mutations that affect levels of unhealthy LDL cholesterol.
