Federal funding for biomedical research has fallen 22 percent since 2003, dramatically slowing the pace of development for new drugs and treatments. A hoped-for remedy is the 21st Century Cures Act, which would set funding levels and speed drug approvals, according to a North Texas panel of doctors and elected officials address.
