Consumers will have to wait if they had planned to get the latest FDA-approved drug that lowers cholesterol from a CVS Pharmacy. CVS said it will wait until a second new drug is approved before adding the new drugs to its list of covered medications. The new PCSK9 inhibitors are much pricier than statins and may be provided to those who do not reach an acceptable cholesterol level with statins alone, CVS said. (Reuters)
