U.S. Seeks Pledges to Reduce Antibiotic Use
In an effort to curb a growing public health problem, the White House convened a meeting of food producers, corporate consumers, regulators and health industry executives to gain commitments for scaling back antibiotic use. More than 2 million people per year become ill from infections that don’t respond to antibiotics, and consumer advocates say industry and government have not done enough to limit overuse.
