Glass-Bottom Spring Research Boats to Be Restored
The historic wooden glass-bottom boats that have plied the waters of Spring Lake since 1945, when they were part of Aquarena Springs, are being redesigned and refurbished under the guidance of the Meadows Center for Water and the Environment at Texas State. The wooden-framed hulls of the boats, which are used to explore the springs and habitat of Spring Lake, are being replaced with fiberglass composite hulls. (San Marcos Mercury)
