If we've learned anything over the last five-plus years, it's that Texas Tribune readers are also loyal listeners: They love the TribCast, our weekly politics and policy podcast, and they can't get enough of our live events.
Starting today, we're launching a crowdfunding campaign to merge those two interests — to secure the equipment, technology and resources to convert all of our free, statewide events into easy-to-stream podcasts.
But we don't want to stop there. We're also seeking support for a TribCast spinoff, a weekly podcast on the 2016 presidential race — covering everything from candidates with Texas roots to the Lone Star ground game — co-hosted by our own Jay Root and KUT political reporter Ben Philpott.
Any additional dollars beyond our ambitious goal will go toward presidential retro-casting — turning all of our previous live events with presidential possibles like Rick Perry, Ted Cruz and Rand Paul into podcasts.
We've had great luck in the past letting Trib fans support these types of initiatives by way of Beacon Reader, a phenomenal crowdfunding-for-journalism portal. We hope this time is no exception!
Please lend a hand — and a few bucks — to help us bring our live events, political analysis and deep Texas context to an even broader audience. Go here to give, and thanks!
