World Health Organization Evaluating Ebola Response
In a rare special session, the World Health Organization met in late January to create a global emergency workforce to be deployed in crises such as the Ebola epidemic. The organization was hammered by critics last fall who said its initial response to the Ebola epidemic was slow, disorganized and ineffective. Other reforms agreed to by the 34 member states include an internal and external review of the organization’s response to the Ebola crisis and funding mechanisms for future public health emergencies.
