Jeff Archer was named executive director of the Texas Legislative Council on Monday, formalizing his position as the agency's chief. He had the title of acting executive director since August.

The agency serves as a support to the Legislature, performing research and assisting in the drafting of legislation.

Archer has worked at the Legislative Council for 32 years, the past several years as a member of the executive leadership staff. As the agency's only assistant executive director, he became the senior staffer in December 2013.
