Odessa Looking for More Water Options

The city of Odessa is looking for new water sources to supplement its current sources: O.H. Ivie Reservoir, the E.V. Spence Reservoir and Lake J.B. Thomas.

Trees that were once mostly submerged are now high and dry in the southwestern portion of O.H. Ivie Reservoir southeast of Ballinger Texas. The reservoir is less than 30 percent full, as of April 20 2011.

The city of Odessa is looking for new water sources to supplement its current sources of O.H. Ivie Reservoir, the E.V. Spence Reservoir and Lake J.B. Thomas. Odessa Mayor David Turner is asking that the production of groundwater be increased from the Ward County well fields in order to offset effects of the drought on the city's lake sources.
