California's Rural Poor Affected by Drought
California's devastating drought has adversely affected many of the state's rural poor who rely on domestic wells for their water and who compete with more prosperous farmers for available water. As groundwater reserves shrink, many of those wells are no longer deep enough to reach water, while farmers continue to drill wells and further diminish groundwater levels. (Circle of Blue)
