Loving County has completed a solar-powered desalination unit designed to produce drinking water from brackish water, including water used in hydraulic fracturing. The test project was funded by the county and by the federal Bureau of Reclamation's WaterSMART innovative water treatment grant program. (International Desalination & Water Reuse Quarterly)
