A new television ad from attorney general candidate Dan Branch's campaign features the plaintiff from a lawsuit in which Branch's Republican primary runoff opponent, Ken Paxton, was the defendant.

The ad features Dallas businessman David Goettsche, who, along with his wife, previously sued Paxton, a state senator from McKinney, after learning that Paxton had received money for referring them to an investment adviser who then steered them toward a venture that eventually lost money.

“I wouldn’t trust Ken Paxton as our attorney general,” Goettsche says in the ad.

Paxton and Branch, a state representative from Dallas, are facing each other in the May 27 runoff. Early voting starts Monday.
