Last year, the Washington Post released a beta version of Truth Teller, the latest iteration of its fact-checking platform. Eventually, the Post hopes its technology can provide instant, real-time fact-checking of politicians. For now, the platform works best for pre-recorded speeches.

The Texas Tribune has partnered with the Post to try out Truth Teller on some Texas politicians. In our first effort, we turned the Truth Teller platform on a portion of a speech U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz delivered at the Texas Public Policy Foundation's Policy Orientation in January in Austin. Watch below as Truth Teller analyzes Cruz's speech in real time and incorporates fact checks aggregated by the Tribune and the Post.
