The Edwards Aquifer pool, the source of most of the water for the city of San Antonio, marked an inauspicious low for the beginning of the year, reports the San Antonio Express-News. The pool began the year at 640.7 feet, which is its lowest level on the date of Jan. 1 in more than 50 years. The measurement does not bode well for farmers, who could face new restrictions in March when they begin irrigation operations.
