Branch Will Report More Than $4.9 Million Cash on Hand
In his soon-to-be-filed campaign finance report, state Rep. Dan Branch, R-Dallas, who is running to be the next attorney general, will report that he has more than $4.9 million cash on hand, according to a press release from his campaign.
Branch's primary opponents — state Sen. Ken Paxton, R-McKinney, and Texas Railroad Commission Chairman Barry Smitherman — have not yet released their fundraising totals for the end of 2013.
According to the press release, Branch's report will show more than $1.9 million raised by the campaign since the previous report in July. It will also show that no loans have been made to the campaign. Listed among those who have given to the campaign thus far are former President George W. Bush, the late Harold Simmons and former NFL star Troy Aikman.
"This incredible response to Dan Branch's candidacy as the most competent conservative attorney in the field is fueling our campaign's momentum as we hit the home stretch," campaign manager Enrique Marquez said in a statement.
