Perry Aide: Attacks on White Are Political

An aide to Gov. Rick Perry says Democrats' recent attacks on William White, the Texas Finance Commission chairman, are politically motivated.

Texas Governor Rick Perry attends groundbreaking ceremony for Teletón USA CRIT children's rehabilitation center in San Antonio, Texas, on August 6th, 2013.

The attacks Democrats are leveling against William White, chairman of the Texas Finance Commission and vice president of Cash America, amount to nothing more than politics, said Lucy Nashed, a spokeswoman for Gov. Rick Perry.

She said gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis and other Democratic senators attacking White for his controversial remarks in the El Paso Times had a chance to vote against him but didn't.

"With any appointee we expect them to do their job and do it in the best interest of all Texans. This is just politics from the Davis campaign," Nashed said. "They could have voted him down if they felt there was a concern. They had the opportunity.”
