The attacks Democrats are leveling against William White, chairman of the Texas Finance Commission and vice president of Cash America, amount to nothing more than politics, said Lucy Nashed, a spokeswoman for Gov. Rick Perry.
She said gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis and other Democratic senators attacking White for his controversial remarks in the El Paso Times had a chance to vote against him but didn't.
"With any appointee we expect them to do their job and do it in the best interest of all Texans. This is just politics from the Davis campaign," Nashed said. "They could have voted him down if they felt there was a concern. They had the opportunity.”
