According to Texas Government Insider, the San Antonio Water System has agreed to a settlement with the Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Justice Department that would require SAWS to make an investment in sewer system upgrades that could surpass $1 billion over the next 10 years. The EPA had filed a complaint about sewer spills in several U.S. cities, including San Antonio, where millions of gallons raw sewage are said to have spilled into the environment.
