After concluding the regular legislative session, lawmakers have now moved on to a special session on congressional and legislative redistricting. They are deciding whether to cast aside the political maps drawn by the Legislature in 2011 and instead endorse political districts drawn by federal judges and used in the state’s 2012 elections.ย 

Here’s a look at the districts that lawmakers are being asked to endorse. The column labeled “TWI” represents the Texas Weekly Index, which shows the percentage-point spread between the average Democratic and Republican candidate in statewide elections over the last two election cycles. A red number means the Republicans finished first and shows by how much; a blue number indicates a Democratic district, and its strength.

The calculations are ours, but the heavy lifting was done by the Texas Legislative Council, which processed the raw election results into results per district. And to find your own district, look here.ย
