Proposed Development Near Wimberley Sparks Battle
Forrest Wilder of The Texas Observer chronicles the battle over the proposed development of Needmore Ranch, a scenic 5,000-acre stretch of land near Wimberley. Despite local opposition, state Rep. Jason Isaac, R-Dripping Springs, and state Sen. Donna Campbell, R-New Braunfels, have filed legislation that would create a municipal utility district for the ranch's owner, granting him the authority to obtain tax-free bond financing, tax future landowners and possibly acquire land through eminent domain.
