Perry Makes Presidential Campaign Official, Files with FEC

Gov. Rick Perry's statement of candidacy and statement of organization for RickPerry.org, Inc., Perry's principal campaign committee, have been posted on the Federal Election Commission's website.

Gov. Rick Perry's made his presidential campaign legal on Monday, filing a statement of candidacy and a statement of organization for RickPerry.org, Inc., his principal campaign committee. Both are posted on the Federal Election Commission's website.

Both documents were prepared on August 13, the same day as the RedState Gathering where Perry formally announced his entry into the 2012 presidential race.

Salvatore Purpura, the listed treasurer for RickPerry.org, Inc., is no stranger to GOP presidential campaigns. Purpura served as the treasury director for the John McCain-Sarah Palin ticket in 2008 and as treasurer and comptroller for Bush-Cheney '04, George W. Bush's re-election campaign.
