After watching his party lose 61 seats in the recent midterm elections, did U.S. Rep. Gene Green, D-Houston, vote to stay the course or to give the boot to current Democratic House leadership?

The world may never know.

During a Nov. 10 TribLive interview, Green said he was undecided on whether he would support outgoing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in her bid to become minority leader. On Wednesday, Pelosi fended off her more conservative challenger, U.S. Rep. Heath Shuler, D-N.C., a former NFL quarterback, by a 150-43 vote in a closed-door gathering of the Democratic Caucus.

When asked to reveal whose team Green was on, a spokesman from his office said Green will “maintain that it is a secret ballot.”
