The National Republican Congressional Committee released a new TV ad over the weekend targeting the Congressional District 17 race and attacking incumbent Chet Edwards‘ ties to the Democratic establishment. “Chet Edwards calls himself independent, and when he went to Congress 20 years ago, maybe that was true. But now he votes with Nancy Pelosi 96 percent of the time,” it begins, going on to cite Edwards’ support for President Obama’s Wall Street and automotive industry bailouts. Edwards’ Republican challenger is Bill Flores, a retired oil and gas executive from Bryan.
