2010: Andrea White Speaks Out
Andrea White, wife of the Democratic nominee for governor, Bill White, has been traveling around the state drumming up support for her husband's campaign — one living room at a time. On Thursday, she took some time to talk to reporters before a gathering of Republican and independent White supporters at a private home in Austin.
She originally didn't want her husband to go into politics but now says the six years he served as mayor of Houston have been the happiest in her life. But what about the last several months? While she has seen that he's down in the polls, she has confidence he will win in November:
She's caught a bit off guard by the general perception that she's married to a wonky ... well, nerd:
And as for more serious accusations made by the opposing campaign that her husband sought to make money off a company helping Hurricane Rita recovery efforts (White says he invested in the company long after the storm), she doesn't let them bother her:
