Senator Larry Taylor represents District 11, comprised of parts of Brazoria, Galveston and Harris Counties. A native Texan, Taylor attended Baylor University where he received his BBA in 1982. He and his wife Kerri are the proud parents of three children. He owns Truman Taylor Insurance Agency in Friendswood, an independent agency started by his father over 50 years ago.
Taylor was elected to the Texas Senate in 2012 after having served five terms in the Texas House of Representatives. During his tenure, Taylor served as the Chairman of the House Elections Committee, Co-Chairman of the Windstorm Insurance Legislative Oversight Board, a member of the House Insurance Committee, the House Select Committee on Voter Identification and Voter Fraud, the Energy Council, and two terms as Chairman of the House Republican Caucus.
Taylor is proud to have been named a "Taxpayer Advocate" by Texans for Fiscal Responsibility, a "Champion of Free Enterprise" by the Texas Association of Business, and a "Courageous Conservative" by the Texas Conservative Coalition. Locally, he was recognized as Galveston Daily News' "2011 Citizen of the Year" and named "Texas Legislative Champion" by the Sealy and Smith Foundation for his efforts to repair the medical branch after Hurricane Ike.
