Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Roger Staubach endorsed state Sen. John Carona‘s re-election bid, choosing the incumbent over Dallas businessman Donald Huffines in next year’s Republican primary.

More importantly to Carona, Staubach put his testimonial in the form of a radio spot now running in Dallas. 

Huffines, part of the family best known for its car dealerships in Dallas, announced his challenge to Carona earlier this year, saying the incumbent is insufficiently conservative.
