Google engineer Nelson Minar has created a vector-based web map of all American rivers in the contiguous 48 states. Minar included seasonal creekbeds and arroyos to show the astonishing complexity of U.S. waterways. He has also posted open-source information on a different site for do-it-yourself map geeks to create their own versions.
