If there’s one sentiment we at the Tribune especially appreciate, it’s enthusiasm. And on that score, the policymakers, pollsters and politicos who have graced the stage at our TribLive events have certainly delivered.

Browsing through pictures and videos from these free public events, we noticed that when our public servant guests had a point they especially wanted the audience to consider, they tended toward a certain manner of self-expression. So prevalent was the gesture, committed by everyone from Republicans like Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst to Democrats like former Houston Mayor Bill White, that we might even go so far as to declare it a trend. And of course, as you will see, no one was more guilty than the Trib’s own Evan Smith.

And so, in the lighthearted spirit of April Fools’ Day, we present to you a compilation of what we like to call “TribHands.”
