Tribpedia: Texas Tech University

Texas Tech University is a public university in Lubbock composed of 11 academic colleges, a graduate school and a school of law. 

As of fall 2009, 30,049 students were enrolled. The Red Raiders are the university's athletic teams, with seven men's sports and eight women's.

Founded in 1923, the university is the flagship school of the Texas Tech University System. Guy Bailey is the current president of the university, whose operating budget for the 2010 fiscal year is $622.8 million.
