Texas House Backs Bill Expanding Charter Schools

State Sen. Dan Patrick, R-Houston, spoke Wednesday as Texas charter school supporters rallied at the Texas Capitol to lobby the Legislature for more funding.
The Texas House on Thursday is set to take up Sen. Dan Patrick's proposal to increase the number of available state charter school contracts. For charter school advocates, the legislation is long overdue. But others have raised questions about whether the state has the resources to adequately oversee such an expansion.
