Calendar of Events

If you have an upcoming political or policy-related function (fundraiser, speech, reception, etc.) that Tribune readers might like to attend or at least be aware of, fill out this form and let us consider adding it to our statewide calendar. We’ll verify the information and, if appropriate, publish your event listing within 24 hours. We might even send a photographer to document the festivities for our site — with permission, of course.

    Legends of Galveston Dinner

    You are invited to participate in the first W. G. Hall – A. R. “Babe” Schwartz Legends of Galveston Dinner honoring two great men’s outstanding service to our community. The event will be held on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010, in the Crystal Ballroom of the Hilton Hotel, 5400 Seawall Boulevard, Galveston, Texas. A social hour will begin at 6:00 p.m. The dinner and program will begin at 7:00 p.m.
    The Honorable Speaker Pro Tem Craig Eiland will serve as Master of Ceremonies. The Honorable Ronnie Earle, candidate for Texas Lt. Governor, will be the guest speaker. The Honorable Judge Susan Criss will introduce Earle.
    The program will include honoring one local Democratic office holder who has made outstanding community accomplishments in 2009. This person will receive the A. R. “Babe” Schwartz award. Also one person who is a local private citizen and Democrat who had made outstanding community accomplishment in 2009 will receive the W. G. Hall award. This award will be presented by the Honorable Jim Yarbrough, Galveston County Judge.
    All Democrats are urged to participate in this event honoring past and current Democratic accomplishments. Sponsors are at $1,000, $500 and $250 levels. Individual admission is $45 per person.     State of the City Dinner & Auction - Austin

    We hope you will join us at the Austin League's 18th Annual State of the City dinner. We have invited our new Mayor, Lee Leffingwell, to be our speaker. He will give his perspective on the current state of our city and the prospects

    Ron Paul to Attend Katy Tea Party Candidate Forum

    LAKE JACKSON, TX – Congressman Ron Paul has accepted an invitation to participate in a candidate forum sponsored by the Katy Tea Party Patriots on Saturday, February 20th. The event will be held from 1:00 – 4:00 pm at Taylor High School and will feature candidates for Harris County GOP Chair, US House District 10 and US House District 14.

    “Congressman Paul is very impressed with the energy that the Katy Tea Party Patriots are bringing to civic engagement,” said campaign spokesman Jesse Benton. “Dr. Paul hopes his participation will help bring attention to this important event. Congressman Paul welcomes the opportunity to talk to fellow Texans about his leadership in the 14th District and why he is consistently rated ‘The Taxpayer’s Best Friend.’”
