Internal poll: Wright leads Ellzey by 23 in TX-6 runoff
First in The Blast: Ron Wright has a 23-point advantage over Jake Ellzey in the Republican runoff for the 6th Congressional District, according to a poll done for Wright’s campaign.
Wright leads Ellzey 47 percent to 24 percent among likely voters, per the survey. The rest — 29 percent — are undecided.
Other findings from the poll:
• Wright leads Ellzey in name identification, 82 percent to 53 percent.
• Wright has a favorability rating of 49 percent (14 percent unfavorable), while Ellzey’s is 30 percent (4 percent unfavorable).
• Among voters who call themselves “very conservative,” 52 percent have a favorable opinion of Wright (12 percent unfavorable) to 31 percent for Ellzey (5 percent unfavorable).
Wright, the former Tarrant County tax assessor-collector, is running against Ellzey, a retired Navy pilot, for the seat being vacated by retiring U.S. Rep. Joe Barton, R-Ennis.
The poll was conducted Thursday through Saturday by WPA Intelligence, which reached 400 likely voters using live phone interviews, 37 percent on cell phones. The margin of error is plus-or-minus 4.9 points.
