TribBlog: Capitol Reopened After Bomb Threat

The Texas Capitol has been evacuated because of an early morning bomb threat. A spokeswoman for the Texas Department of Public Safety says someone called 9-1-1 and said there is a bomb in the building. Everyone inside was ordered out and people showing up for work this morning are being turned away for now.

The Texas Capitol has been evacuated because of an early morning bomb threat. A spokeswoman for the Texas Department of Public Safety says someone called 9-1-1 and said there is a bomb in the building. Everyone inside was ordered out and people showing up for work this morning are being turned away for now. The spokeswoman, Tela Mange, said there aren't any other details at this point.

A similar call resulted in an evacuation two weeks ago — on June 18, also a Friday.

Update (10:01 a.m.):
The Capitol was reopened a few minutes ago (just before 10 a.m.). No bomb was found, apparently, and the DPS decided it's safe to return.
