U.S. Rep. Ron Paul's presidential campaign announced today it is expanding ad buys in Iowa starting on Wednesday.

The video, already airing in the state, is titled "BIG DOG." It features slick graphics and four-legged animals. "What's up with these sorry politicians? Lots of bark. When it's show time — whimpering like little Shih Tzus," says the narrator, before going on to declare that Paul would save the nation $1 trillion by eliminating the departments of Education, Energy, Housing and Urban Development, Interior and Commerce.

The second ad, to be released on Wednesday, will be a shorter version of the 60-second video below. It attacks former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who at least three recent polls indicate has widened his lead over Mitt Romney and Paul in Iowa. The latter pair are tied at 18 percent, according to a new ABC News/Washington Post poll. The Paul campaign is calling the spot "Serial Hypocricy." It cuts between videos that contrast Gingrich's conservative rhetoric with his lobbying activities, which have included consulting for troubled mortgage lender Freddie Mac and for health care firms that supported the much-disputed individual mandate that came with President Obama's federal health reform plan.

“We wanted to ensure this ad reached as many voters as possible to debunk the myth that the Newt we are seeing on the 2012 campaign trail is the conservative he has been touted to be all along,” said Jesse Benton, chairman of the Paul presidential campaign, in a press release.
