I'm pleased to let you know that our sister publication, the venerable Texas Weekly, is even more of a must-read than before. This week's issue of the premium newsletter, still and ever edited by Ross Ramsey, includes several new features intended to amp up the exclusivity and spin the public policy and politics news forward a few extra rotations. The upshot is more bang for your buck. Longtime subscribers and newbies alike should love it.

What's different?

Beat reports from your favorite Texas Tribune reporters. The two pieces that supplement Ross' lead column will be beat-specific "month ahead" columns on everything from public education to health care, from jobs and the economy to campaign finance, focusing on issues and controversies and emerging players to watch.

A calendar of upcoming events and key dates. Think of this as a daybook for the week ahead. We'll be collecting info from the usual sources, but feel free to send David Muto (dmuto@texastribune.org) whatever you'd like him to consider.

A videocast: The Texas Weekly Newsreel. Some weeks it will be a quick-hit interview with Ross offering his inside baseball look at the big topics of the moment. Other times it will be a Skype face-off between two political insiders, or a one-on-one interview between a reporter and a politico.

"Campaign Roundup" behind the pay wall. This popular item, which has migrated over to the Trib from the Texas Weekly site a few days after it's original publication date, is now subscriber-only, effective immediately.

Other familiar Texas Weekly features — Political People and their Moves, Quotes of the Week, The Week in the Rearview Mirror — stay the same. So does Inside Intelligence, which will continue to make its way over to the Trib, albeit on Tuesday instead of Monday. But the net effect of all this activity should still be a spur to sign up today. We hope you will!
